Ideal introductory programme for family/whānau, and professionals.
FANZ is a two-day introductory programme that enables participants to create a framework for understanding and supporting an Autistic person (Child to Adult). It is a collection of evidence-based strategies and recommendations from the Aotearoa New Zealand Autism Guidelines.
Practical application of the strategies is embedded in the exercises throughout the course. The course is delivered through presentation, video examples and application of the strategies.
Participants will leave the course with:
•A better understanding of autism, and how that impacts on the person.
•Practical strategies to apply immediately, including the use of visual supports, how to teach new activities and writing stories for understanding.
•A framework to support the person in a variety of settings.
•A deeper understanding of how neurodivergent people may express distress, with a focus on recognising and reducing triggers, and responding in supportive, respectful, and person-centred ways.
When you register for this programme you will become an Autism New Zealand member, which is free to join.less
